The Rotary Club of Hickory and Chick-fil-A teamed up recently to show support and appreciation to the dedicated first responders in the Hickory community. While continuing to support our primary mission of early childhood education with our annual support and recognition of teachers, students, and public schools, the Rotary Club of Hickory and Chick-fil-A thanked those that brave the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic to respond to the health and safety needs of our community, starting with the fine professionals serving the Hickory Fire Department.
These 120+ men and women provide fire, rescue, EMS, and medical transport to the citizens of the Hickory area and are often the first to respond in emergency medical and rescue calls. “They provide high quality emergency services, education, and prevention that protect our community through professional coworkers; focused on customer service, compassion, commitment, and innovation”.
For the challenges and risks these dedicated first responders face daily, during these troubling times, Rotarians wanted to express a heartfelt show of thanks and support. In partnership with Jason Pope and his team of coworkers at the Viewmont location of Chick-fil-A, the Rotary Club of Hickory delivered lunch meals to the seven fire stations in Hickory June 17-19th. Chick-fil-A graciously donated and provided the meals, and Rotarians delivered them for lunch, along with messages of thanks from a grateful community.
The event was the brainchild of Rotary Club of Hickory President-elect Tara Bland. It was coordinated by Rotarian Michael Blackburn working with Chief Matt Hutchinson and Deputy Chief Bryan Murray of the Hickory Fire Department. The meals were prepared and provided by Chick-fil-A franchise owner Jason Pope and his team at the Viewmont location of Chick -fil-A.
There were approximately 21 deliveries over three days to make sure all 120 Fire Professionals are in our gratitude.
Thank you, Hickory Fire, for putting your lives on the line to save lives and serve us amid the challenges of this pandemic!
