Reigning Mrs. North Carolina United States, Debbie Miller, was the featured speaker at the April 19th meeting of the Hickory Rotary Club.
Debbie is originally from Augusta, GA, and attended Georgia Southern College with a major in Nursing. Growing up she competed in pageants and won several titles: Miss Georgia Fair, Miss WYKZ and Miss Hawaiian Tropic among them. Debbie modeled, appearing in ads for Dixie Crystals Sugar, Ocean Pacific Suntan Products and National Smoke-out Week. She appeared on postcards promoting Hilton Head Island and other publications.
After spending her twenties and thirties raising children, Debbie decided to re-enter the pageant world through the Mrs. North Carolina Pageant in order to help promote her platform of Go Red for Women. Go Red is an affiliation of the American Heart Association that helps promote awareness, education, and prevention of heart disease in women. Go Red for Women celebrates the energy, passion and power we have as women to band together to wipe out heart disease and stroke. For more information, visit www.goredforwomen.org.
A mother of three, Debbie lives with her husband in Mooresville, NC.
