Hickory Rotarian Lisë Swensson, Director of the Hickory Museum of Art, introduced speakers, Robert Eades (M), Linda Greenwell (L) and Cindy Lundy (R) who spoke to the club about Hickory Museum of Art’s 5th Annual Lake Norman Folk Art Festival. Linda and Cindy serve on the Hickory Museum of Art’s Board of Trustees and are Co-Chairs of the festival. They have been instrumental in developing a vision for the festival and growing it from 1,000 attendees in 2009 to the anticipated 7,000 attendees for 2013.
This year’s festival will be held Saturday, October 5th from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. at 3630 Drum Campground Road off Highway 150 on beautiful, wooded, lakefront property in Sherrills Ford, NC. The event is free to the public.
Over 50 Southern contemporary folk artists will staff artist booths with a variety of crafts for sale. Live music will be provided by Still Pickin’ bluegrass and country band. Food vendors will offer barbeque, hamburgers, hotdogs, sandwiches, breakfast biscuits, Creole and Southern fare, desserts, ice cream, popcorn, soft drinks, water, beer and wine in the Picnic Place.

- Minnie Adkins of Isonville, KY (Claremont Elementary School)
- Wanda Clark of Statesville, NC (Viewmont Elementary in Hickory, NC)
